Applications include:
Lipolysis e.g. in obesity research Oxidative phosphorylation e.g. in inborn metabolic diseases
Creatine kinase e.g. in acute myocardial infarction
ATP/ADP/AMP ratios in apoptosis

ATP/phosphocreatine in muscle metabolism studies
Glucose measurement using hexokinase reaction
Continuous monitoring of cell lysis
Continuous monitoring of platelet aggregation

Principles:

ATP Kit SL contains the stable light emitting ATP Reagent SL. With this reagent the luciferase reaction consumes <1%/min of the ATP concentration. Adding ATP Reagent SL to a sample, in which ATP is formed or degraded, makes it possible to continuously monitor the ATP level by measuring the intensity of the emitted light. At the end of the assay a known amount of ATP is added to the reaction mixture for calibration and to calculate the formation or degradation of ATP in moles. Kinetic as well as end-point assays can be performed. Enzymes as well as metabolites can be assayed.

Can you say it's clean with confidence?

The new and improved ATP Surface Hygiene Monitoring System, Lumitester PD-20, is now available from Kikkoman. Its small size and light weight, ease of use and rapid results makes it suitable for cleanliness control and hygiene training in a range of industrial settings and health care environments. Based on the unique detection of ATP plus AMP, its simple swab and measure method using the new LuciPac Pen swab, makes it possible to detect invisible contamination anywhere and anytime in only 10 seconds with super sensitivity. The easy to read display gives a clear reading of the level of contamination and results can be downloaded to a PC.
